In the peak season between June and August, the J-Bay Open, which is considered the 6th stop on the World Surf League Championship Tour, as well as the Billabong Pro Surfing Festival.
J-Bay was founded in 1849, currently has about 27 inhabitants and is not only a surfer but also a beautiful hotspot for tourists all over the world. The majority are from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Holland. The surfers mainly from Brazil, America and Australia.
Nearby is the Cable Jous Nature Reserve and Seekoei River Nature Reserve.
